31-year-old Lupita Nyongo 's oscar dress was stolen from her hotel.. The dress, valued at $150,000, was reportedly taken out of her hotel room at the London West Hollywood.
She wore the custom Calvin Klein gown created by Francisco Costa that featured 6,000 pearls to the 87th Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday.
According to NY Daily News, Nyong’o had a large entourage, including friends of hers, makeup and hair stylists and fitters, and many of them had access to a handful of keycards granting access to her hotel room, the source told The News
Nyong’o tried to file a police report immediately, but couldn’t do so herself, since she does not own the dress; it was on loan from Calvin Klein, the source added.
“We got call at about 11:30 last night from someone at the London Hotel about a high value dress that was stolen from a hotel room,” Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department Officer John Mitchell confirmed.
Police are now reviewing surveillance footage from the hotel that was filmed between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m. Tuesday — the period in which the thief struck, law enforcement sources told TMZ. Nyong’o was not in the room at the time.
