After months of Robin Thicke attempting to win back wife Paula Patton during the media tour for his latest album, Paula, the 39-year-old beauty is now sharing her side of the story in an interview with Good Morning America.
"We will always love each other and be best friends; however, we have mutually decided to separate at this time," the pair, who were high school sweethearts said in a joint statement upon announcing their split. The two have one child together, four-year-old son Julian, whom they currently share custody of.
"My son's happy," Patton continued on GMA . "And I'm very —you know, I feel like everything happens for a reason. And then you have to move on and grow from there."
"The truth is it's hard for me to say this because I don't always do this, but it's being grateful for what you have," she said. "It's so easy for us to focus on the negative things, but usually, the positive in your life outweighs that. And you have to just be thankful for what you have right
now."
"The thing is you can't wallow in sadness or stay in bed when you have a child," she explained. "And they're so full of life and wonder. And he brings me so much joy."
Currently, Patton is focusing on her own future and has teamed up with Ellen Tracy to serve as their brand ambassador for the clothing company's latest campaign.
Meanwhile, Thicke is embroiled in a copyright trial against Marvin Gaye's children after he was accused of ripping his 2013 hit "Blurred Lines" from Gaye's 1977 song "Gotta Give It Up."
